Advisor: Karen Hedges

Karen Hedges Karen (Modesto, CA) has had the great opportunity to be the Advisor to OCHC for 3 years. She lives on campus with her husband and two children. Karen is a full time Student Affairs Professional and has been working for UCLA's Office of Residential Life for 8 years. She earned her Bachelor's degree from CSU, Chico and her Masters of Education from Arizona State University. Karen’s favorite part of OCHC is the camaraderie amongst the council, the amazing programs, and the fun that OCHC brings to the hill.

Student Advisor: Yvonne Ly

Yvonne Ly Yvonne (San Leandro, CA) cannot break herself away from OCHC! She returns this year as the Student Advisor, hoping to shed light on the world of OCHC to all who she advises. Yvonne enjoys the fun of every event from Casino Night to the Super Smash Bros. tournament. She is a 3rd year Communication Studies major as well as a Resident Assistant in Rieber Vista.


Graduate Assistant Advisor: Kayla Banion

Kayla Banion Kayla (San Clemente, CA) has recently joined UCLA as a master's student in student affairs and as the Graduate Intern for OCHC. Prior to becoming a Bruin, Kayla worked in the Office of New Student & Family Programs at her undergraduate alma mater, Saint Mary's College of California. She is excited to work with the Association President's Council, to learn more about ORL at UCLA, and to have a blast at the OCHC events!


President: Matt Howze

Matt Howze Matt (Lakewood, CA) is a third year student pursuing a degree in Sociology. He hopes to go on to graduate school where he will get a degree in Student Affairs and continue his work with students and making their college experience the best that it can be. He is extremely excited to be back on the Council for a second go around, and cannot wait for everything to get started. He is very impressed with this year's team, and believes everyone on the Council are going to do the best that they can do to put on some of the best programs for the Hill. In addition to being President of OCHC, he must lead various other groups that he is happy to work with. As chair for Policy Review Board, he hopes to bring up any and all of the issues students would like to know about or see changed on the Hill. And as member of the President's Council, he hopes to build a support network between the Association's Presidents and create a safe place for the Presidents to share ideas and bring the Hill together as one. He is looking forward to Casino Night, Resident Runway, and Spring Formal, but is excited for all the programs OCHC will be putting on this year. He thinks this year is going to be the best that students on the Hill have ever seen, and hopes that the everyone living on the Hill thinks so too. "Go UCLA! and go OCHC!!!"

Internal Vice President: Bear Allen-Blaine

Bear Allen-Blaine Bear Allen-Blaine (Buena Park, CA) is a third year English Major Theatre Minor originally from Hermosa Beach. This is her second year back on OCHC, and as the IVP she's looking forward to strengthening the communication and programming opportunities with USAC and other campus relations. She loves to eat, people-watch, read, write, make faces, play with kids, play volleyball, and run. You’re most likely to find her scooting around campus, at any of the fabulous OCHC events, or taking a nap. She loves to help people and lives her life as a free-spirit, learning from each experience and using that to enrich her community.

External Vice President/NCC: Stephanie Lucas

Stephanie Lucas Stephanie (Huntington Beach, CA) is a second year proud bruin pursuing a double major in Political Science and Economics/International Areas Studies with a French and Linguistics minor. She hopes to attend law school in the future and become part of our national legislative or executive branch. Stephanie's leadership background at UCLA includes floor government, Dance Marathon general and operations committee, Bruin Democrats, Housing Tours, USAC Internal Vice President Office Staff, USAC Freshmen Fellows, and currently USAC President's Office Campus and Community Liaison Director and OCHC's External Vice President/National Communications Coordinator. Stephanie is very excited for the year and looks forward to bringing recognition of UCLA's on campus housing programs and hard workers to a regional and national level through hard work and enthusiasm of all OCHC. Stephanie also loves to dance, work out constantly, watch Dane Cook, and be as busy as possible with activities, friends, and family.

Finance: Simon Lau

Simon Lau Simon (San Marino, CA) is a third-year aerospace engineer. As the Finance Director this year for On Campus Housing Council, he's excited to serve the community and support the academic mission. The chance to carry out the standards of the CORE 4 to our residents and our community is a great opportunity. His background includes being a part of Floor Government, Housing Tour Guide, Student Leader-External Vice President, Orientation Counselor and a member of OCHC last year. Look for him beyond the programs and events and feel free to come up and say hello to him. Some of the things he enjoys to do include taking walks and jogging, being with his colleagues and friends, listening to oldies/rock/NPR and watching good television. Simon's goals are to work in a research center/aerospace and defense corporation, to contribute to the community, to be a good and respectful citizen and to fulfill his dreams. It's important to challenge yourself and to challenge others, to take advantage of opportunities that come your way, to find time for your friends and to choose your attitude. Have a great year and always keep cool. Things will work out the way it's supposed to when you work your hardest.

Programming: Donna Lee

Donna Lee Donna (San Leandro, CA) is a third year studying chemistry. She is a Programming Director for OCHC for the 08-09 school year. She is thrilled to be back in OCHC and to be a part of the newly founded Executive Board. She hopes to put on amazing programs this year and to get the On Campus Housing Council name out. Her favorite OCHC event is Casino Night. She also enjoys watching movies and television.

Programming: Liz Jaureguy

Liz Jaureguy Liz (Turlock, CA) is currently in her second year at UCLA pursuing a major in Spanish and Linguistics. She is a Programming Director for OCHC as well as a member of the UCLA Student Alumni Association and Alpha Lambda Delta/Phi Eta Sigma. After experiencing the positive impact of OCHC during her first year at UCLA, Liz wanted to work for the amazing team that gives back to the residents of the Hill. Now, as a Programming Director, she is most excited to work alongside the other members of OCHC to organize Casino Night and Formal. Liz enjoys competitively Greek dancing for her dance troupe Perifania, and loves to sing and spend time outdoors being active.

Programming: Joan Khuu

Joan Khuu Joan (San Jose, CA) is a junior majoring in MIMG. What is that you ask? It is Microbiology, Immunology, & Molecular Genetics. Yes, a mouthful. She is one of the three programming directors for this year. She was on OCHC last year and enjoyed programming such events as the giant ballooned Eiffel tower Casino Night, a Black & White themed Formal and Resident Runway where she got to meet Sweat Pea from project runway season 4. It was so much that she is back for a second time with learned past mistakes and an eagerness to improve and plan awesome programs. She is excited to work with the new OCHC family and is planning on starting a new program this year, so look out HILL.

Communications - E-media: Ryan Fainstein

Ryan Fainstein Ryan (San Diego, CA) is a second year pre- Business Economics major from San Diego. He is interested in supporting Bruin athletics, creating websites, eating chocolate desserts, and informing other students on the Hill about helpful resources or cool happenings. While the last interest is his reason for joining the On Campus Housing Council, he has already been able to publicize a football game program, re-design hillcouncil.com, and enjoy chocolate with OCHC.
Activities: Last school year, he created a website for Rieber Hall 6North as the floor technology chair, and volunteered as a housing tour guide in May. He continues to be involved with Rally Committee and The Den because he is passionate about following UCLA sports schedules and organizing students to show everyone that the teams have our support. He enjoys many types of physical activity, such as football, frisbee, basketball, volleyball, and weight lifting.

Communications - Correspondence: John Berkeland

John Berkeland John (San Jose, CA) is a second year UCLA student pursuing degrees in Political Science and Middle Eastern and North African Studies, and he hopes to minor in Public Policy. His eventual goals are to go in to law enforcement, and at some point down the road to be a federal agent. This is his second year being involved with OCHC, and he's currently also the president of De Neve Acacia-Birch. He loves on campus housing and feels that more students should get involved. He's here for his fellow residents and he encourages those with concerns to approach him!

EVP De Neve Acacia/Birch: Dana Malinick

Dana Malinick Dana (San Dimas, CA) is currently a second year Communication Studies Major and Film Minor, originally from the city home to the most excellent Bill and Ted. At UCLA she is a member of the Alumni Scholars' Club, Video Production Committee and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She has interned at Disney Studios and studied in Washington DC via Travel Study. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, traveling, reading, writing, history and film. She is particularly interested in researching Hollywood's Golden Age, and hopes to become a film historian.

EVP De Neve Cedar/Dogwood: Jenny Nguyen

Jenny Nguyen Jenny (Riverside, CA) is currently a second year pure mathematics major. Currently she's involved in the Actuarial Club, VSU, VNLC, and works at the Jules Stien Laboratories, as a opthalmologic pathologist's assistant. She loves De Neve and UCLA, and is ready to take on the year. As of right now, she is scuba certified, and will soon have her pilot's license, as well as her motorcycle license - she hopes that she will get sailing certified! She loves meeting new people, getting out there to travel, and finding new activities! Yay for OCHC.

EVP Dykstra: Kat Xu

Kat Xu Kat (Chino Hills, CA) is currently a second year majoring in Neuroscience, following the premed path, and minoring in Chinese. On campus, Kat is involved in the Undergraduate Neuroscience Society, Salsa Club, Nutrition, Complementary & Alternative Medicine and Neurosurgical research dealing with brain trauma in children. On the hill, Kat wholeheartedly loves Dykstra like none other and will be a Dykstra-ian for life! She has formerly served as IM Sports Rec Rep for Floor Government and now actively takes on the role of External Vice President for Dykstra. Kat loves all types of sports, from basketball and water polo to badminton and ping-pong. In her free time, she especially enjoys "rockin' out" to hip hop R&B music and pretending to be a B-Girl. Korean drama is her prime addiction!! On a softer note, she believes in natural self-relaxation through yoga meditation and energy. Kat looks forward to a fruitful year with OCHC and hopes to not only represent Dykstra in the best way possible, but also to interconnect the whole hill with exciting and attractive programs.

EVP Canyon Point: Justin Yu

Justin Yu Justin (San Francisco, CA) is in his second year at UCLA pursuing a double major in English and Music History. He is proud to be serving as the External Vice President for Canyon Point - a place he has come to know and love. Justin is an active individual and can be found participating in activities all over campus. A brother of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, Justin has also served as a coxswain for the UCLA Men's Rowing Team, a vocalist in the UCLA Chorale and Chamber Singers, and a competitor for UCLA Badminton. In addition, Justin works for UCLA Undergraduate Admissions as a Bruin Ambassador, offering tours and college admissions advice to students throughout California. Though he is a NorCal boy at heart (Bay Area), Justin likes to think of himself as an international individual who loves traveling and experiencing new andexotic cultures. Justin's other interests include chilling with friends, watching movies/TV, chatting and meeting new people, singing, and Broadway musicals. Carpe Diem, Carpe Noctem, Carpe Vitam!

EVP Delta Terrace: Elyse Bender

Elyse Bender Elyse (Torrance, CA) is currently a second year, double International Development Studies and Political Science major. She loves being busy, so at UCLA, she is the EVP of Delta Terrace (and therefore a part of the fabulous OCHC!), a member of the Cultural Affairs Commission, and the co-director of two committees for Mighty Mic, and is on various committees on the Hill. In her nonexistent free time, Elyse loves travel and foreign things, music, and everything related to the beach. She is very excited to be working on such large-scale programs with OCHC and getting everyone on the Hill, and especially her awesome Delta residents, involved with hill-wide events.

President Courtside: Lee Bearden

Lee Bearden Lee (Roseville, CA) is a second year still searching for the major that suits him best. His background includes participating in House Government last year as an EVP. As President of Courtside this year, Lee hopes to create many successful programs with both Courtside and OCHC that will help foster a sense of community within the Hill. Lee's interests include dancing to any and all types of music and rockclimbing at the Wooden Center.


EVP Summit: Maegen Timpano

Maegen Timpano Maegen (La Habra, CA) is a second year Political Science major planning on attending law school and pursuing a career as a lawyer. She loves being EVP for Hedrick Summit and helping plan all the Global Summit events. Maegen also works in Bear Wear at the UCLA store and likes when people stop by to say hi. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies, and dancing. This is her first year being a part of OCHC and can't wait for all the fun and exciting events to come.


EVP Hedrick: Matt Murphy

Matt Murphy Matt (Petaluma, CA) is a second year pursuing a Political Science/ Economics double major with a minor in Public Policy. As Hedrick's EVP he also gets the distinct pleasure of serving on OCHC. On campus he's involved in the Rally Committee, so suffice it to say he's a huge supporter of athletics here on campus and is pumped to have full season basketball tickets this year. He has a great love for pop culture, seeing as many movies as possible and as many concerts as well; since late 2005 he has seen over 165 bands in concert.

EVP Saxon: Leonardo Gorito

Leonardo Gorito Leonardo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is currently a third year Economics/ International Area Studies Major who transferred from Pasadena City College. After he receives his bachelor's degree, he plans on getting his MBA and eventually running his own business. Leo loves keeping himself busy and is very excited to be in OCHC. Besides being EVP for Saxon, he is also involved with the Undergraduate Business Society and Club Tennis. During his spare time, Leo likes to travel, dance, play sports and play the piano. He is looking forward to a great year with OCHC!

EVP Rieber Terrace: Amanda Rocha

Amanda Rocha Amanda (San Diego, CA) is currently an undeclared second-year, but hopes to major in communications or economics. She is the current External Vice President of Rieber Terrace for the 2008-2009 school year. She is absolutely ecstatic to be working with the Rieber Terrace staff to make this year a memorable one, for all the residents of Terrace. As EVP, she also gets the privilege of working on OCHC, helping create amazing programs for the enjoyment of everyone on the Hill. She was inspired to take a student leadership position after an unforgettable experience on Rieber 6 North, a place that was not just where she lived, but was truly her home away from home. In her spare time, Amanda loves to hang out with friends, laugh, and watch movies. She hopes everyone comes out to support all the OCHC programs and has an awesome year!

EVP Rieber Vista: Saritha Kosarussavadi

Saritha Kosarussavadi Saritha (East Bay, CA), a Bangkok native, is a second-year physiological science major planning to apply for a minor in Applied Developmental Psychology. She is currently the External Vice President of Rieber Vista, and Saritha is very much delighted to be in the Vista as well as the OCHC family this year. In addition to working with ORL, Saritha is on the Publicity Committee of Thai Smakom and is involved in their annual Culture Night. She enjoys all types of dances, arts, good music, fashion and food, and loves to travel.
